One thought experiment that has the potential to change your life

Do you want to change your life?

Do you feel that you have stuck in your life?

Even after achieving everything, do you feel that lack something?

Well, I guess most of us will respond with yes. We all want to improve our life as somewhere deep within we know that we are worth much more than our current value.

I do not claim that after reading this post your life will get changed immediately. It is a lifelong learning process but this can catalyze that change.

As you are aware that journey of thousand miles begins with a single step. Sometimes a single thought or a single action can change the course of your life.

So, let’s have a thought experiment. Shall we?

You got the news that you have just six more months to live! And you cannot change your environment also. You cannot run away from your responsibilities and everything in your life will be the same as it was. But you will die exactly six months after today.

Then, how will you live the rest of your remaining life?

Let’s pause for a while and think about the above statement. Let this question sink deep in your heart. Give it some time. Don’t jump to an immediate answer. Just ponder only over the question.

Life was, is, and always will be unpredictable and fragile.

Many of us are uncomfortable with the thought of death itself. Even though we frequently hear so many stories about sudden and unexpected deaths but somehow we feel that this will not happen to us or our family.

Whether you like it or not, want it or not, death is inevitable.

Now, let’s come back to our thought experiment.

Imagining today as your last day is difficult. You will lose all your motivation to struggle and work. You may think if today I have to die then what the use of all of these is. You feel that you don’t have sufficient time to make some change or positive impact in the lives of your loved ones.

Six months are sufficient to make an impact or change. And it seems somewhat more realistic as a 4th stage undiagnosed cancer will not give you more time than this.

Your brain can digest this idea and can work on that.

So, you have just six more months!

Whether still will you binge-watch the web series?

Whether still will you gossip and engage in blame games?

Whether still will you argue with your loved ones?

Whether still will you procrastinate and not start your dream project or your masterpiece?

Whether still will you be glued to your screen?

Well, the choice is yours. And I am no one to tell you what you should do. After all, it is your time and your life!

Life is nothing but an opportunity and death strips away this opportunity from us. We fear death because of the unknown. We fear that we will miss all these wonderful possibilities.

So, as an experiment give yourself six months. You live as you are living now and do whatever things you are currently doing. You don’t need to change anything external environment. However, you need to keep your mortality in your heart.

You need to work on your internal environment. You need to question yourself if I have just six months whether what I am doing is relevant.

Is this the best thing that I can do?

Is this my best move?

Keep the above questions in your mind.

Now, if you are reading this statement that means you have come this far with me. I thank you for giving me your valuable time.

It may have taken you just 4 minutes to read this post but now you have a question or an experiment with you.

One thing I understood is that nobody can change yourself except you!

Give this experiment a sincere opportunity to bring that change you always wanted in your life.

Go ahead. Change yourself.
